Move-ies. Not Talk-ies

One thing newbie writers do is to think that their dialogue is so clever (a-la Clerks) that it will carry a movie. It won’t.
Movies are about “moving pictures” not “moving pictures of two people talking.” If I want to see two people talking, I can go down to the local Jack in the Box, right?

Right.

Project Updates… and a picture of a big ass crab!

Since I’m doing this on the fly, I wanted to get in and out.  Here we go with PROJECT UPDATES!
1) 2 0 3 – nobodies really read it!  So sad because it’s pretty damn good. Soon, soon.
2) American Monster – it’s a tough one because of it’s graphic nature and the fact that it’s “based [...]

For all of you folks asking “what’s up with [INSERT TITLE HERE].”
Here we go. A blow by blow run-down…

On Every. Single. Script.

The Next Iteration.

Who’s this?

If you guessed “Colonel Sanders” you are 1) wrong; 2) old. It’s “The Architect” from The Matrix trilogy.
I am the architect. I created the matrix. I’ve been waiting for you. You may have many questions, and although the process has altered your consciousness, you remain irrevocably human. Ergo, some of my answers you will [...]

The Monster Under the Bed: Exposition.

I gotta whisper ’cause I can’t be too loud. From the song “Lips of an Angel” by Hinder.
I didn’t write the song. I wish I did.  It is kind of catchy.
But, come on, for what other reason would one whisper other than to “not be too loud”?  That’s needless exposition.

Set Pieces

Set pieces. A wonderfully complicated ballet of characters and plot lines that intersect with things — big things — in some sort of fantastical way.  So when Michael Bay says “Transformers will have 14 set pieces” (quotes are mine…) he means that there will be these action pieces where the robots will fight or run amok or in [...]

Locked in the punch

It’s just a simple R.E.M. song, right?
“Andy, are you locked in the punch?”

2 0 3

I finished 203 over the weekend.  Here’s the logline:
A failed brain surgeon and his young mistress trap hapless men to remove the life-altering extract Euphorium 203 from the very center of their brains; their intent to use the extract on his pregnant headless wife long enough for her to deliver both his son and his [...]
