Watching ‘The Lost Tribe’

The Lost Tribe came out this week on DVD here in The States. Watching was odd. Seeing and hearing the things we did, seeing how they turned out (for better or worse). As with most things I do, I only see the dark spots, not the light. That’s probably not much different from a lot [...]

Move-ies. Not Talk-ies

One thing newbie writers do is to think that their dialogue is so clever (a-la Clerks) that it will carry a movie. It won’t. Movies are about “moving pictures” not “moving pictures of two people talking.” If I want to see two people talking, I can go down to the local Jack in the Box, [...]

Project Updates… and a picture of a big ass crab!

Since I’m doing this on the fly, I wanted to get in and out.  Here we go with PROJECT UPDATES! 1) 2 0 3 – nobodies really read it!  So sad because it’s pretty damn good. Soon, soon. 2) American Monster – it’s a tough one because of it’s graphic nature and the fact that [...]

Back from L.A.

I saw about 15 minutes of ‘The Lost Tribe.’  It looks excellent!  Hopefully there will be some news in the next couple of months about the release.  Maybe a trailer, even. I met a lot of people that I had only spoken with on the phone face-to-face, and met some new folks as well.  Project updates [...]

Plot. Sense it make has to?

A frustrating week brought on by a change in schedule, new computer equipment and… don don don! A bad outline!!! The good news is, ”11 Days” is still a  solid idea and I’ve have a new appreciation for stream-of-consciousness-no-real-plot Clerks-esque type films. The bad news is, my crappy outline just wasn’t going to get it done. At least not [...]

My outl nes seem to be m ss ng someth ng.

Short and sweet: Did some pick-up work on The Lost Tribe. Read Cambridge Film Classics critical analysis book: “The Films of Alfred Hitchcock” (whoa!).   And then… Last weekend, I went back and created the outline for the new material, breaking it into three crisp, clear acts, setting up each scene, the motivations, etc. etc. Then I [...]

Project Updates

Notalotta this week, gang. Here’s the quick version and we’ll regroup next week: 1) Big Blue Meanie – working with a few interested parties on getting it optioned.  Also working with Don Jackson on polishing. 2) Blind Eye – made a whole buncha changes.  It’s much better now. But Larry had an excellent idea — add [...]
